A little lace

I'm not new to lace knitting, but I am defiantly a beginner. I've only knit a few pieces of lace as I find the charts hard to follow at this stage in my life where I am required to put down and pick up my knitting often. This little piece involved just the right amount of lace to knit it over 3 nights once the little one and the puppy had both fallen asleep. 

This knit is not intended for anyone specific, but it's rather a combination of pattern and yarn I found appealing. This pattern is inspired by, the Erantis Romper, called to me as I was looking for a delicate baby knit to change things up. The yarn, Cascade220 in the Antique Heather colorway was just the right neutral to not overwhelm the delicate lace pattern. 

There were several modifications to this little sweater from the original pattern. The first being that the original pattern was a romper, and I knit it as a sweater. The second is that the pattern is written for fingering weight yarn and I used a worsted weight yarn. In order to do this, I really took the Flax pattern and used the numbers from there to create a sweater and then used the lace pattern and method of applying the lace from the romper. 

This mishmash of a pattern will forever remind me of hot summer days and the deep desire to rest after what was the year of 2020. It will remind me of the puppy stage of our sweet Nova Rose, as she was only at home for a few weeks when this was knit. This sweater will remind me of the sweet news that my friend was once again expecting as I picked up the yarn the day after she told me with the intention to knit something "sweet", should she have a girl as she already has lots of neutral sweaters from her other offspring.

Rocky Pants

These little pants were a joy to knit. I used the Rocky Pattern  and yarn from Hillesvag Yarns  in the petrol colourway and left over Rauma yarn  in the ocher coloruway from a set of mittens I knit myself.  There were no modifications to these pants, but I did use the optional cloth diaper modification provided in the pattern. These were my first baby pants and overall were much easier than anticipated.  These pants will forever remind me of a sweet friend and her expected baby. As soon as she told me she was expecting, I raided my yarn stash for the perfect blue as that's mom's favorite colour. I wanted a cheerful contrast and came up with this yellow/gold colour and I love the way these pants look. I can't wait to see them on a little baby bum next year.

An Introduction to Knit Your Memories

Over the years, I've spent more time knitting and creating through yarn and needles and decided that I wanted a place to record the knits that I make, the process, the yarn I use and any modifications I made. A place to record the memories associated with my knitting. I want a place to store all of these things where I can connect to any other content that I decide to create in conjunction with this little corner of the internet.  I started knitting as a kid, after watching my grandmother knit but put it down after a simple square. I came back to it in my early 20's as a way to cope with all of the medical appointments going on in my life. I found I enjoyed it and as I was in my 20's lots of friends were getting married and having babies. Is there a better reason to knit than a new baby?  Years later, I still love to knit baby items. Perhaps it is the relative instantaneous gratification, perhaps is the adorable size of the teeny tiny pieces and yet perhaps is the fun const...
