These sweet mittens are knit from the Meda Pattern using left over Cascade 220 in the light grey colourway and left over variegated pink/grey from WoollyMilne, a local to me hand dyer who uses a NB heritage wool as one of her bases.
For these mittens, I knit the Norwegian star pattern on both the front and the back so that there was no front and back difference, making placing on baby even easier. There are no thumbs for the wee mittens, also to make putting on and off the hands a little easier.
Knitting these mittens reminded me of a grey sweater I knit for my son, and a set of fingerless gloves I knit for myself. They also reminded me of sitting in the sun on the deck, sipping ice coffee as I knit the early morning away. They remind me of summer camps, giggling children and the smell of sunscreen as the second mitten was finished in the evenings during a science camp I run at my school.
